Rave Review - 08/22/2008

Rachel Forest of the Portsmouth Herald writes rave review “Pesce Blue is my model for a great dining experience “
Food **** and a half. Cuisine as it should be, with local seasonal ingredients thoughtfully and simply transformed into delicious dishes.
Service ****. While the staff will get to know you, they tend to recede and tend to their tasks making it obvious who the "front man" is. Cliffe Arrand works the room with easy charm and enthusiasm.
Ambiance **** and a half. I'm partial to modern décor so Pesce's urban, modern atmosphere appeals to me and here it's done well. It's a great change of pace from New England rustic.
Overall **** and a half. An artfully balanced experience of cuisine, service and vibe. Read the whole review at http://www.seacoasteats.com/story/pesce-blue

MAY 2008 TASTE MAG EDITORS PICK - 05/25/2008

Writen By Jean Kerr of taste of the seacoast Pesce Blue (Portsmouth, NH) owner Cliffe Arrand invited us to sample their new lunch menu which includes wallet friendly dishes that put the Pesce Blue whammy on familiar lunch items. I decided after a few bites, that if you ordered a cheeseburger in heaven, it would be chef James Walter’s Carne Rosso Italian Burger: ground sirloin steak (seasoned with their garlic infused sea salt) with melted mozzarella cheese, roasted tomatoes, romaine lettuce, hand torn basil, and house-cured pancetta; served with garlic roasted potatoes wedges and lemon aioli. I also sampled their take on good old New England Chowder, but think of it as a New England bouillabaisse, with a gorgeous piece of pan roasted cod surrounded by clams and mussels in the shell, Yukon Gold potatoes in a perfectly balance cream and sherry base. I could go on and on but I suggest some first person research. www.tasteoftheseacoast.com

1000 PLACES TO SEE BEFORE YOU DIE - 06/28/2008

1000 Places To See Before You Die, is one of the bestselling travel books ever published, and in her latest book , 1,000 Places To See In The U.S.A And Canada, Author Patricia Schultz adds Portsmouth to her list. Schultz gives Portsmouth the recognition it deserves, calling it a model New England harbor city, with a wealth of historic architecture, unique shops, café's , and restaurant's. For travelers exploring Portsmouth for the first time, Schultz chose seven places that were a must visit , there were only two restaurants that made the list, Pesce Blue and the Blue Mermaid are the author's choice for travelers looking for a place to dine. Schultz says it is the inventive Italian-Influenced menu, and seasonal outdoor seating on the patio, with attentive friendly service, at Pesce, that make it special. Pesce Blue is very excited and also honored, to be included in Schultz's book. So whether you are a local, looking for a new experience, or a visitor seeing the town for the first time, stop into Pesce and see what Patricia's talking about, you'll only have 999 more things to see, and six of them are right here, in Portsmouth!
